Is it plugged in? I have one of these also (it came free with my Wife's Lenovo) and it works fine. However, the driver will not recognize the signals coming out of the apple remote. You can also try the driver located here on a Vista Ultimate or Home Premium installation if you can get access to one of those: [hard drive]\Windows\ehome\ehCIR.dll Other than that it You might try Google. I would take the external card reader and plug it into a different USB port, if it still fails again it is a completely different problem than described here.
